Our Client

Our client, Schoeller Allibert, is a global market leader in the field of plastic manufacturing with around 1500 employees and operations worldwide.

LicenseQ Management Team - Deal Negotiation Clinic

Problem

Schoeller Allibert approached us four months before the expiry date of their Enterprise Agreement. They needed to start working on the renewal of their contract. One of the issues they faced was a lack of insight into their cloud usage.

Another major issue was related to discounts as they had a very high discount on their expiring contract and this discount would not automatically carry over to their new contract.

Our client enlisted our help to on the one hand provide them with the correct insights into their cloud usage and on the other hand to support them in their negotiation process. Their main aim was to renew their contract on time, whilst maintaining their discount and avoiding unnecessary cost increases

“We wanted to partner with LicenseQ as we know they have extensive experience negotiating with Microsoft and a proven track record of closing EA deals that lead to additional cost savings”- Global IT Director.

Solution

“When a client comes to us for an Enterprise Agreement renewal, we implement our proven framework to collect and analyze the client’s licensing data and to create an effective negotiation strategy” – Floris Klaver, Co-Founder LicenseQ.

For Schoeller Allibert one of our main tasks was to provide detailed insight into their cloud usage. We used our optimization tool along with our in-depth knowledge and expertise to identify actual current usage and areas for optimization potential.

Key insights

A key insight for this client was, for example, that they had many inactive users that they were still paying licenses for. Based on this data, we assisted Schoeller Allibert with the removal of the excess licenses for these inactive users, bringing down their total number of licenses and ultimately saving a lot of money on their renewal.

With our support Schoeller Allibert achieved total savings of 14% on their Enterprise Agreement renewal.

“Seeing as we had a very high discount in our existing EA contract and on top of that the ongoing price increases implemented by Microsoft, we were sceptical of what we could achieve.

The end result of 14% total savings in comparison to our expiring contract surpassed our expectations, we are really happy with this outcome” – Global IT Director.

Results

The results we achieved for Schoeller Allibert:

  1. Total savings of 14% on the Enterprise Agreement renewal.
  2. Optimization by removing 235 M365 licenses (saving of more than 17%)
  3. Achieved alignment between functionality and licenses – matching the correct licenses for our client’s business needs
  4. Enterprise Agreement deal closed within the deadline

Conclusion

One of the highlights of this project for us was the successful partnership with this client. “LicenseQ was a perfect cultural fit for our organization. Their approach is no-nonsense and direct, meaning that work gets done effectively. Whilst at the same time they maintain a more informal communication style which led to a nice teamwork environment” – Global IT Director.

When asked what grade they would give LicenseQ, the client said, “For now, a 9 out of 10, I’m saving the 10 for the next renewal process”.

Next steps

Our partnership with Schoeller Allibert did not end after their deal was signed. The next steps of our continuous engagement focus on Azure optimization, the negotiation and purchase of Copilot for M365, and further optimization of their M365 portfolio
